English
How to compress an image to a specific size
- Add your image by choosing a file, dropping it on the box, or pasting it.
- Pick Target size and enter the limit, for example 100 KB for an online form.
- Download the result. The file name ends in -compressed so your original stays untouched.
In target mode the tool tries many quality levels and keeps the best one that fits under your limit. If even low quality is too large, it scales the image down a little at a time until it fits.
JPG or WebP?
| Format | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| JPG | Uploads to forms, email, older sites | Accepted everywhere. Transparent areas turn white. |
| WebP | Websites, blogs, sharing | Usually 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same quality. |
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Compression runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image never leaves your device, and it works offline once the page has loaded.
How do I compress an image to 100 KB?
Choose Target size, enter 100 KB and add your image. The tool finds the highest quality that fits under the limit and reduces the dimensions only if it has to.
Does compression remove photo metadata?
Yes. Location, camera and date data (EXIF) are removed, which also protects your privacy.
Can I compress iPhone HEIC photos?
Most browsers can't read HEIC yet. Convert the photo to JPG first, or set your iPhone camera to “Most Compatible”.
